Crush on Sweets

Food photography has become a major part of Skye Snyder Photography. Weddings introduced me to this love that I now have. Weddings are full of details but it was the edible ones that wooed me.  Weddings are wonderful places to find styled foods; cakes, favors, buffets, and meal plates that are meant to impress.

If you are looking for a different sweet treat for your wedding guests, you have got to try beau-coup.  Their lolli-style brownie treats are personalized for your celebration. If I catch one of these on film, my heart will pitter-patter.

Crush on Reno

15 years ago, I landed back on US soil after intending to stay away forever. As I collected my bags, disappointment and relief collided.  My head was empty as I travelled home again. It was in that emptiness that I was introduced to a new view. The desert Virginia Range Mountains.

I had grown up with a majestic view of the Sierra Nevadas. A stark contrast to the ugly, dry, barren mountains to the east. But that day, my view had changed.  Ethereal clouds cast themselves onto the rolling dirt. What once seemed dead blossomed with subtleties.  And the sky. The sky was endless. The universe was blue. The eastern view offered an ocean of thought, possibility, inspiration, a muse.  It was the first time I loved anything Reno.

I change my name to Skye. It represented where I was from and where I was going.

Perhaps these photographs will help to complete the story:

There is a moment during our getaways when Joshua and I vow to live like tourists in our own town. See the streets and attractions from a fresh perspective.  Adventure on new trails, find new food delights and fall in love with Reno, again.

How do you fall in love with your town?

Crush on Sunset

I am uber geeked out by a miniscule appearance in my favorite magazine, Sunset Magazine. Imagine if it were for a photograph that I had taken instead of a Facebook quote. You may never hear the end of it. Nonetheless,  my name is printed in Sunset and I like it ( even if I did hang my boozer friends out to dry :)

The question was, "What is the best addition you've made to your outdoor space for less than $500?"

Crush on the Cerulean Sky

{GOOD MORNING}
Our GrassRoots tour has us on the road again. This time to Sacramento, California. The Sierra Mountains provided a seriously moody sky for our driving pleasure. A peculiar May snow storm followed these shots.

A GrassRoots {Day in the Life Of...}

I don't think most people would put the Laundromat as a top stop for a day outing with the kids. But, my kids had never been. Strange, considering for decades I hoarded quarters and wouldn't have dreamt to have dropped them into anything other than a coin-op machine. 20 coins jarred my head space. Really? So we waited and watched the rinse. the wash. the spin. the spin. the spin. the spin until we caught the scent of chinese over the laundry soap and bleach. We chowed our Chow Fun in the parking lot while the rest spun. spun. spun.

Crush on {Little Miss A}

{Little Miss A}is nearing her last day as an only child. As a photographer, this is one of my most favorite moments to photograph. A life changing moment for Mom and Dad, and just as much for the wee ones we already have. Our Ruby was only one and half when her sister arrived and immediately she was the BIG sister. She has been a love, a teacher, a support to her little sister. {Little Miss A} was divine. We even had a chat about her future role. I could spend hours and hours with {Little Miss A}. How lucky her new little brother already is.

Crush on Tiny Prints

above images photographed and custom designed by Skye Snyder Photography

As a portrait photographer, I spend most of my days celebrating the milestones of other people's lives by capturing it on film for them. Many of those photographs are sent back to me as beautiful little announcements of newborn babies, showers of all kinds, graduations, save-the-dates--you name it. It's a great line of work when your portfolio if filled with others' most happiest moments. We would love to capture yours and help announce your celebration to the world. We want to share with you one of our favorite announcement folks. We think their quality papers and printing show off our work perfectly {xo}. We are proud to offer our clients Tiny Prints products.

Crush on Delectable Edibles

Today, I had the delicious pleasure of photographing some southern food--tangy, sweet perfection smothered over ribs and beef links. And have discovered, for an uncountable number of times, that meat is a serious challenge to photograph. Meat is not photogenic. Take away the sizzle and the scent and we are left with what it really is--flesh. And that hardly sounds appetizing.  I'm plugging away on my own self-prescribed project--to capture our proteins as delectable edibles.
In the meantime, enjoy some treats that have come across our plate...and one protein that's sunny side up.
