Crush on Orange (i heart faces)

The girls from i heart faces have returned from their Dallas Workshop (one to mark on my 2011 calendar!) and wouldn't miss another week for a challenge. Orange.  The  rules are simple; the photo must include a face and the color orange. Here is an "orange" shot of our little one in the garden. Proud of the bounty. We used these images for Bountiful Backyard, a non-profit who collects produce from neighborhood gardeners and distributes it to local food banks.

Crush on Apple Hill

Apple Hill could probably be named the best thing that ever happened to Colima of Eldorado County. 55 ranches gathered together and formed the Apple Hill Growers Association. It is the place to go in the Sierra Foothills for all things apple. Armed with a handy map, the family can hop from ranch to ranch tasting their apple pies and cider. Train rides, corn mazes, pony rides, crafts and BBQ all line up to get in on the Apple Hill action. Our little girl's 6th birthday falls just when the apples are at their best so this year we decided Apple Hill was the place to delight our taste buds as well as her love of exploring.
the birthday girl eating her first apple donut. Mighty delicious and worth waiting for a fresh one made to order. We got ours at
Abel's Apples comes with apples and pumpkins and pony rides too
Taking in the gorgeous roses and views at Kids Inc. I really liked this ranch. Lots of space and a hill to roll down after some birthday wishes were sung, apple pie a la mode was eaten, and the largest and sweetest caramel apple I've ever had.
this is us geeked out on sugars
What would you name this apple delight?

Crush on Tiny Prints

above images photographed and custom designed by Skye Snyder Photography

As a portrait photographer, I spend most of my days celebrating the milestones of other people's lives by capturing it on film for them. Many of those photographs are sent back to me as beautiful little announcements of newborn babies, showers of all kinds, graduations, save-the-dates--you name it. It's a great line of work when your portfolio if filled with others' most happiest moments. We would love to capture yours and help announce your celebration to the world. We want to share with you one of our favorite announcement folks. We think their quality papers and printing show off our work perfectly {xo}. We are proud to offer our clients Tiny Prints products.

Crush on Delectable Edibles

Today, I had the delicious pleasure of photographing some southern food--tangy, sweet perfection smothered over ribs and beef links. And have discovered, for an uncountable number of times, that meat is a serious challenge to photograph. Meat is not photogenic. Take away the sizzle and the scent and we are left with what it really is--flesh. And that hardly sounds appetizing.  I'm plugging away on my own self-prescribed project--to capture our proteins as delectable edibles.
In the meantime, enjoy some treats that have come across our plate...and one protein that's sunny side up.

Bacon and Maple Crush

Basil, maple, lemon, and curry--the invisible supermodels on today's set. My models smelled good.

A Perfect Pear Catering dished up some delightful tasters for a bride and groom planning their upcoming wedding. Sarah and Sarah, the chefs and founders of A Perfect Pear, created an unforgettable care package for me as well.

I returned home to a full house of family. A perfect meal followed: ravioli appetizers, roast pork with pears, Moroccan apricot chicken and rice, romaine with basil dressing,  a berry parfait, and celebrated with a glass of Australian chardonnay. {SALUT}.

The girls included another dish to be enjoyed the next day...southwestern enchiladas. I can't wait for the family to wake up to introduce them to today's models, Cilantro and Jalepeno...
